Communicable Diseases

Comm Disease The Communicable Disease Division protects your health and the community’s health from the threats of uncontrolled infectious disease and disease outbreaks. Such outbreaks may be due to food or water supply contamination and/or bacterial or viral occurrence of disease.

The Communicable Disease Division, in conjunction with health care providers, uses a surveillance system to quickly identify unusual diseases or an unusual number of cases of a particular disease. Proper control measures are then implemented.

The Communicable Disease Division also ensures that individuals with a TB infection or Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) are properly diagnosed. Free medications for treatment of STDs or TB are provided.
